Yoga By Design Foundation is the first organization of its kind in the nation to raise money for the purpose of providing yoga at no cost to a variety of recipients, including Metro Detroiters with Downs Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, physical and mental disabilities, as well as veterans, homeless and children who have suffered abuse and neglect.

“People under stress from poverty, illness and other life circumstances can use yoga for coping, healing and, ultimately, empowerment,” says Lynn Medow, founder and president of Yoga by Design Foundation. “Yoga guides them back to their strongest and most balanced self.”

There is evidence that Yoga can lower blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol levels, improve circulation, alleviate pain linked to migraine headaches, lessen back problems and arthritis, reduce symptoms of asthma and diabetes and increase strength and flexibility.

This is the fourth year Karma Yoga has donated the studio as host for the Yogathon.

The Yogathon is sponsored by the Detroit Lions , Buddy’s Pizza, Studio for Bodywork, Acupuncture Healthcare Associates of Michigan, , Karma Yoga, Tanner Friedman Strategic Communications , Bevery Hills Orthopaedic Surgery and various generous individuals.
