A recent feature in the Detroit Free Press highlighted Yoga's healing benefits for those of us with joint pain.
Yoga By Design Foundations founder, Lynn Medow gave specific instructions in a quick video demonstrating important stretches you can do at home to support our overworked joints.
Joint pain is not just for senoirs!
Many people today of all ages struggle with it. And though it is not known how many Americans suffer from joint related pain,"Last year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention found that 22.7% of U.S. adults — 52.5 million people — have arthritis, a complex family of musculoskeletal disorders. Among the most common is osteoarthritis, a painful degenerative disease caused by wear and tear on bones and joints.
Yoga supports the joints; with gentle movement - never forcing or pushing. Yoga helps us move, soften and create space so that oxygen reaches more of our cells, organs and bodily systems. This helps to lower inflammation, decrease pain, engages our ability to heal, supports healthy cognitive function and and lowers stress.
Everyone can benefit from Yoga's simple and soft, healing touch. Great video Lynn!
