Yogathon is a day-long marathon of unique yoga classes. All monies raised go directly to the Yoga by Design Foundation as the Karma Yoga studio is graciously donated for the day and teachers volunteer their services. The atmosphere is festive and local vendors will be outside of the studio selling their wares, donating a portion of their proceeds to YBDF!

6:30 - 8:00 AM ASHTANGA YOGA in the tradition of K. Pattabhi Jois with Matthew Darling, www.AshtangaMichigan.com. Led Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. Called Yoga Chikitsa, yoga therapy, it realigns the spine, detoxifies the body and builds strength, flexibility and stamina. The class will be taught in the traditional manner with the vinyasa count and postures in Sanskrit.
8:15 - 9:30 AM - COME LAUGH WITH US! with Nancy McCaochan, www.nancymccoachan.com & Lynn Medow, www.yogabydesign.us. Back by popular demand, this magnetic duo offers this all-levels class which melds posture, movement, pranayama and laughter into a unique experience. Laughing strengthens immune function, brings more oxygen to the body and brain, fosters positive feelings and improves interpersonal skills.
9:45 - 11:00 AM KUNDALINI EXPERIENCE with Stevie G
Kundalini is an ancient practice utilizing a unique blend of poses, breath work, mantra and active meditation. In this all-levels class we will be “Exploring the 10 Bodies” and “Meditation to Clear the Auric Field". Stevie G will guide you through an upbeat and illuminating Kundalini Experience.
11:15 AM- 12:15 PM GUIDED SLOW BURN with Raina Nemeth, www.yogagardenbh.com.
In this moderate-level class, students will be slowly guided in-and-out of poses, allowing adequate time to explore sensations, deepen focus and allow tension to melt away. Some poses are held for a longer period of time, building internal heat and awareness. Practitioners will leave feeling relaxed, empowered, and with a wide open heart.
12:45 - 2:15 PM EMBODIED AWARENESS, RADIANT SPIRIT with Natalie Piet and Sara Davidson Flanders, www.fullradiance.com. This dynamic duo returns to offer an all-levels practice utilizing alignment and breath-work to release tension and strengthen the spirit. We are honored that Sara will join us once again from Rhode Island this year.
2:30 - 3:45 PM - STAYING CONNECTED TO PEACE & OPTIMISM with Kelly Hale, www.inspiredwell.com. This “Inner” ACTIVE all-levels experience is filled with gentle movements that blend Brain Gym ®, meditation, and other healing modalities to balance your nervous system and deeply reconnect your mind. body and heart space. Bring an open mind, receptive heart, water bottle, mat and notebook to record “noticing” experiences.
4:15 - 5:45 PM MEDITATION & GONG IMMERSION with Dale Prentiss & Valerie Weir, www.yogasounds.org. Concluding our day of seva, a deeply meditative sound experience with planetary gongs enables the benefits to come full circle. Gentle and masterful, the sustained waves of sound vibrations have been said to produce deep healing and spiritual enlightenment.
